The After-Movie 2024 is here!

To coincide with the unveiling of the programme for Chemnitz’s Capital of Culture Year on 25 October, the “Light our Vision” (LOV) Festival of Light Art is releasing its official after-movie, produced by the zebra | group.

LOV has once again given the people of Chemnitz a preview of what being the Capital of Culture might feel like. Tens of thousands of visitors descending on the city, positive reports in the national media, and social posts with millions of views and fervent praise in the comments. The third edition of the Festival of Light Art is already planned in for 24–27 September 2025 and is sure to be one of the shining highlights of the 2025 cultural calendar.

“When we initially had the idea to plan projects around the Capital of Culture in our working group at the Saxony Chamber of Architects back in July 2021, we could only dream of what we have achieved today with Light our Vision”, recalls Lotte Claudia Fischer, Chair of the organising body, Baukultur für Chemnitz e. V..

“We are incredibly grateful for all the support, involvement, donations and sponsorship we have received from visionary Chemnitz residents and companies. Relying almost entirely on volunteers, with boundless initiative and passion, we have succeeded in establishing the Festival of Light Art as an event that will make Chemnitz shine, especially during its year as the Capital of Culture in 2025. It also makes hidden architectural and urban planning potential visible, and stimulates discussion about the development of Marienplatz (Mary’s Square).” But even in the Capital of Culture year, LOV will be entirely dependent on sponsorship and donations. The continued support of sponsors is crucial for the team to be able to plan more long-term, and they would love to receive pledges this year to help make Chemnitz shine again in 2025.

The after-movie invites all viewers to (once again) experience the magic of Light our Vision from the perspective of a visitor to the city as she embarks on a wondrous journey of exploration. Like a modern-day Alice, our protagonist makes her way through Light our Vision, the city of Chemnitz becoming the fabled Wonderland. Visions are brought to life and the city becomes a place of hidden fascination.

Joerg Fieback, Managing Director and co-owner of zebra | group, which has made a significant contribution to LOV’s (visual) communication as both its partner from the very beginning and an ’Extralarge’ sponsor, adds: “Today we are not only celebrating the film, but also the dedication of the initiators at Baukultur für Chemnitz e. V., Lotte Claudia Fischer and Linda Hüttner. Without their hard work and passion, Chemnitz would not be seen in this special light today. The film shows what LOV and Chemnitz have already achieved – and makes us look forward to 2025.”
